Where can I find daily or monthly parking?

  • Daily parking is available at eight parking lots throughout the City. Prices vary depending on hours and seasons.  For more information please see the parking information on the City website under the Administrative Services Department.
  • Monthly Parking is available at three lots in the City.  Parking permit can be purchased at the Community Services Department located at 515 Forest Avenue Weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. 
  • 10 hour metered parking is available on the 100 and 200 blocks of Cliff Drive and on 600 through 900 blocks of Laguna Canyon Road and Frontage Road.
  • There are several privately operated lots around the Downtown area.

How long are Business Parking Permits Valid?
Business Parking Permis are valid for one-year from August 1st through July 31.

How long are Resident Shopper Permits valid?
Resident Shopper Permits are valid for two years from August 1 through July 31, of the second year.  Renewals begin in May of even numbered years. 

How long are Residential Parking Permits Valid?
Residential Parking permits are valid for 1 year, from August 1 through July 31.

How long do the meters operate?
We have two different areas of enforcement hours, all meters accept Laguna Canyon and Frontage Road are enforced 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily. Laguna Canyon Road and Frontage Road are enforced from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.

I sold my car, how do I get a replacement permit?
Parking permits are not transferrable from one vehicle to another.  If you sell your car or if your car is in an accident you must return your old permit to receive a new parking permit for your current vehicle.  If you do not have your old permit, the DMV Release of Liability or a repair order from the auto repair show must be presented in order to receive a replacement permit.  The permits are designed to tear apart and will read VOID after being removed from your vehicle.  Write down the number of the current permit before removing it from the vehicle.  The fee for a replacement permit is $2.00.  For further questions please call 949.497.0346

If I have a handicap plaque, can I park at a non handicap metered space without paying?
Yes.

When will I receive renewal information for my Resident Shopper Permit?
Renewal notices are mailed to permit holders in May of even numbered years, with stickers being mailed in the latter part of July. Residents who do not receive a renewal notice by the end of May can call (949) 497-0314 with their name, Laguna Beach street address, and a daytime phone number to have application forms mailed to them. Shopper's parking stickers are available by mail only.

Where can I get change for the parking meter?
The City operates four bill change machines in the most popular locations. The locations are 300 Forest Avenue, 400 Cliff Drive, 800 Laguna Canyon Road and in the lower level of the Glenneyre parking structure at 400 Glenneyre. In addition to the City change machines, many business owners provide meter change. Look for the little yellow sign in business windows indicating that they will supply change.

How do I transfer my parking permit onto a temporary vehcile?
If you car has been in an accident and is in the shop for repairs or if your car has been declared a total loss due to an accident, you must bring in the repair order form from the body shop or documents from your insurance carrier that details the VIN# and the license plate number of the damaged or totaled vehicle if you are unable to obtain the permit from the vehicle.

You will need to complete the Replacement Request form at the Cashier counter at City Hall.  After a review of the documentation, the permit/sticker from the damaged vehicle will be rendered inactive and a replacement permit will be issued for your temporary vehicle.  You must have the VIN# or the license plate number of the temporary vehicle in order for the replacement permit to be issued.  Once your vehicle is returned from the body shop or you have purchased a new vehicle, repeat the process to obtain a permit for your current vehicle. 

The fee for the replacement permit is $2.

How do I transfer my parking permit onto a new vehicle?
In order to transfer your current parking permit onto a new vehicle, you must remove the permit from the current vehicle and return the permit to the Cashier counter at City Hall. 

It is recommended that you write down the permit number before you begin to peel the permit off your current vehicle.  (As a security feature, these permits/stickers are designed to tear apart when removed after the initial application.)  Bring the permit into the Cashier at City Hall and complete the Replacement Request form at the Cashier counter.  You must have the VIN# or the license number of the new vehicle in order to obtain the replacement permit for the new vehicle.  The fee for replacement is $2.
