City Clerk's Office

The City Clerk is elected and serves a four year term. The department has two employees, the City Clerk and the Deputy City Clerk. Primary responsibilities include the following:

  • Preparation of agenda packets and minutes from bi-weekly City Council meetings
  • Administration of the City's records management system
  • Maintenance of the Municipal Code
  • Processing of legal documents (e.g. ordinances, resolutions, contracts, agreements, permits, in lieu certificates, historic register applications, domestic partnership registrations, etc.)
  • Administration of certain tort claims

The City Clerk is also responsible for municipal elections and must ensure that filing requirements are adhered to by elected as well as appointed officials pursuant to the Political Reform Act.

Lastly, the City Clerk's Department serves as a resource center for the public, providing information about various services and/or referrals to other sources.

2012 Citizen Survey

The City of Laguna Beach received the results of a citizen survey of resident opinions about the community and services provided by local government. A report summarizing the survey results will be presented to the City Council at its annual Budget Workshop scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in the Council Chambers located at 505 Forest Avenue in Laguna Beach.

Main Beach Basketball Courts to be Reopened
5/10/2012  The dirt and materials that have been stockpiled on the basketball courts will be removed over the next week. The basketball courts will be re-surfaced and new backboards and rims will be installed. While the courts are being re-surfaced, the irrigation and turf surrounding the courts will be renovated. The courts will re-open to the public on June 2, 2012. The construction fencing will be relocated to the edge of the driveway and surrounding the remaining lift station construction. The basketball courts should remain open during the construction of the Lifeguard Headquarters and Public Restrooms.
