Keeping the Ranks Filled
Recruiting inexperienced individuals with good backgrounds, strong work history and solid character often results in an outstanding police officer. At left, two recruits perform a character building exercise at the Police Academy at Golden West College. They are guided and encouraged by one of the Academy Recruit Training Officers, Jim Cota. Corporal Cota is a full time Officer with Laguna Beach and moonlights at the Academy while keeping an eye on our newly hired officers. As in this case, it is not always a good thing to be from the same department as one of the Academy Staff!
