The Main Beach lift station was constructed in 1932. It is a cast in place concrete structure with a wet well/ dry well configuration. The station is the City’s third largest lift station. It primarily serves the downtown area of the City.
Due to ongoing problems with odor, electrical and mechanical maintenance and structural deterioration, the station was assessed by City staff and an independent engineering firm to determine its current condition and measures necessary to ensure safe and reliable operation into the future. The recommendations of the engineering firm combined with the institutional knowledge of City staff have been incorporated into the plans for the proposed Heisler Park Protection and Preservation Project – Phase IV.
The extent of structural decay, condition of mechanical and electrical systems and sensitive location of the Main Beach lift station elevate the urgency of the proposed reconstruction to the highest priority sewer project in the City.
