Balanced Budget – The City Council adopted a balanced budget for Fiscal Years 2019-20 and 2020-21 while maintaining a 20% General Fund Reserve.
Adult Education Program – The City, in partnership with the Laguna Beach Unified School District, started an Adult Education Program dedicated to promoting educational opportunities for adult learners.
Community Recreation Amenity Improvements – Various improvements were made to City facilities including the Community Pool, Lang Community Center, Community & Susi Q Senior Center, the Main Beach Basketball and Moulton Meadows Tennis Courts.
Community Services Program Scholarships – The Learn-to-Swim Program funded 23 children’s enrollment fees.
Ask Laguna Mobile App – The City released a mobile app called “Ask Laguna.”
Public Arts Events – The City presented 16 concerts, three film screenings, eight writing workshops by the Literary Laureate, and a chalk art workshop. All events were free to the public.
Public Art Restoration – The Arts Commission continued its maintenance of public art by renovating and cleaning 18 pieces in the City’s collection.
Cultural Art Funding – In 2019, 18 organizations received grants totaling $220,600 for arts programming in Laguna Beach.
Recycling Events – The City and Waste Management hosted several recycling events, including a paper shredding and E-Waste event celebrating America Recycles Day, Compost Giveaway Event, Hazardous Waste Collection Event, and offered four free composting classes.
Tree City USA Recognition – The City was recognized as a first-year Tree City USA Community by the Arbor Day Foundation and hosted a tree planting ceremony on March 8 proclaimed by the City Council as Arbor Day in Laguna Beach.
New City Arborist – The City hired a new City Arborist to lead the City’s Urban Forest Management Program and Tree Care Services.
