Vision Laguna is a community based visioning project designed to capture a shared vision of what the community wants for Laguna Beach over the next 30 years and to craft a Strategic Plan for accomplishing the vision. Three phases have been completed and the results have been documented in several reports located under Work Products and Reports. The fourth phase, Implementation, begins with the presentation of the Final Report to the City Council. Work is underway to post the latest report, Vision Laguna 2030 Final Report and Strategic Plan, on this site. Following is an update from the Vision Laguna Steering Committee: May 2002 Dear Community Leader: In January, the Vision Laguna 2030 Final Report and Strategic Plan was presented to the Laguna Beach City Council. The Final Report represents the culmination of the work accomplished to date. It also documents the unfiltered work of the seven community strategy teams, including: Community Character – People; Community Character – Place; Resident and Visitor Mobility; Environmental Responsibility; Arts and Culture; Economic Sustainability; and Governance and Civic Participation. In March, the City Council requested that the Vision Laguna Steering Committee take one more step in the process. The City Council requested that the Steering Committee arrange the 51 proposals and recommendations into a document that provides a relatively clear vision path of what is contained in the Final Report. To this end, the Vision Laguna 2030 Steering Committee is working on the following tasks:
This task should be completed by June. It will then be submitted to the City Council for consideration. If you are interested in this process or the subsequent implementation phase, please feel free to email Fred Droz at fred.droz@thedrozgroup.com. From the beginning, the success of the Vision Laguna 2030 project has been dependent on the application of a fair and objective process, the commitment to mutual respect, consensus building and the countless hours of public input by individuals and groups throughout this community. During the last two years, more than 2,000 community members and over 100 groups have participated in this process. Stay tuned and stay alert. The best is yet to come. Sincerely, Vision Laguna Steering Committee |
