City Council
The five member City Council is elected at large. Each
Councilmember serves a four year term. The Council is
responsible for the legislative functions of the City.
Its meetings are generally held the first and third
Tuesdays of each month starting at 6:00 p.m. Each
Councilmember receives a stipend of $450 per month. Also
included in this budget are the expenses of various
intergovernmental organizations such as the League of
California Cities, the Southern California Association of
Governments, and the National League of Cities. Within
the contractual services account are retainers for
representatives in Sacramento and Washington, D.C.
To secure more input regarding issues of community
interest and concern, the City Council has created the
following commissions, boards, and committees:
- Arts Commission
- Board of Adjustment/Design Review Board
- Personnel Board
- Planning Commission
- TechCom Committee
- Heritage Committee
- HIV Advisory Committee
- Housing and Human Affairs Committee
- Environmental Committee
- Parking/Traffic/Circulation Committee
- Recreation Committee.
