LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. – June 10, 2026, 10:45AM — Laguna Beach Marine Safety personnel, in coordination with regional agencies, continue the active search and recovery for the missing adolescent female who was reported swept into the ocean near Treasure Island Beach on the evening of June 9, 2026.

Marine Safety is expanding the search area beyond the victim's last known location. Members of the public may notice fewer personnel concentrated directly at Treasure Island Beach. This does not indicate a reduction in search efforts. Rather, it reflects a standard search pattern strategy in which resources are redistributed across a broader geographic area based on prevailing ocean conditions, currents, wave action, and drift modeling.

Search operations initially focus heavily on the last known location of a missing person. As time passes, particularly during periods of large surf and strong currents, search teams expand outward to areas where conditions may have carried a person beyond the original search zone. This process requires personnel, vessels, aircraft, and other resources to be deployed along additional sections of the coastline and offshore areas.

Ocean conditions remain challenging, with large surf and strong currents affecting the coastline. Large surf is forecast to continue through the remainder of the week. 

Search managers continue to evaluate these conditions and adjust operational tactics accordingly. Anyone who spots anything unusual along the coastline should immediately call 911.
