Overnight Lane Closure on Southbound Coast Highway at 7th Avenue

Caltrans will install signal detection loops overnight on Wednesday, June 24, requiring a single-lane closure on southbound Coast Highway at 7th Avenue, with possible periods of loud noise.

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. – June 23, 2026, 2:30 p.m. - The City of Laguna Beach is advising residents and motorists of overnight construction on southbound Coast Highway at 7th Avenue beginning Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

Caltrans crews will install signal detection loops at the intersection between 10:00 p.m. Wednesday and 4:00 a.m. Thursday. The work involves cutting into the pavement, so there may be periods of loud noise during this window. Residents in the immediate area should plan accordingly.

One lane will remain open at all times to maintain traffic flow. Motorists may experience brief delays and are encouraged to slow down, follow posted signage, and use caution when traveling through the work zone.

This is a one-time, overnight operation scheduled to minimize disruption to daytime traffic. Crews expect the work to be completed within the scheduled hours.

Media inquiries regarding the project should be directed to Caltrans District 12 Public Information Officer Nathan Abler at (657) 650-5146 or Nathan.Abler@dot.ca.gov.
