Always swim near a lifeguard and with a buddy — and follow common sense beach safety guidelines. Not every beach has a lifeguard at all times.

Beach Restrooms and Showers

We recommend Main Beach, Treasure Island Beach, or Crescent Bay Beach which all have public restroom facilities and outdoor showers.

The water quality of Laguna's Beaches, as well as all beaches in Orange County, is monitored by the Orange County Health Care Agency.

Parking

There is three-hour metered parking in some areas, and very limited neighborhood parking in others. Use our Parking App to find available parking. Be warned, however, our parking enforcement personnel ticket for parking violations. In the summer, we open large parking lots in different parts of town.

Tide Pooling

Many of our beaches have stunning tide pools. You are welcome to visit these tide pools, but please follow Good Tide Pooler Rules, especially never pick up or remove animals from the tide pools. Tide pooling is best and safest at low tide, so consult a tide chart before you come. You will probably want waterproof shoes, as the rocks can be sharp on bare feet and difficult to navigate in flip flops.

Dangerous Rocks

The rocky outcroppings that make our beaches so pretty are also very dangerous. Every weekend we answer emergency calls from people who have injured themselves — or worse — on our rocks. Waves can be unpredictable and have swept many unsuspecting beachgoers off their feet.

Other Beach Rules

  • Beaches close between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.
