The window to become an Ocean Lifeguard for the City of Laguna Beach this summer is now closed. However, we are now accepting applications for the 2026/2027 Seasonal Ocean Lifeguard Testing and Academies. Apply today if you're interested in lifeguarding for the 2027 summer!

To Tryout to be an Ocean Lifeguard

1. Complete and Submit the Seasonal Ocean Lifeguard I Application 

    

2. Print and complete the Physical Testing & Training Waiver. This Wavier is required of all candidates to participate in Physical Testing (tryout) and Training activities for the positions of Seasonal Ocean Lifeguard I. If a candidate is under 18 years of age, the signature of a parent or guardian is required.

    

3. Complete a Physical Testing (Tryout)

   Candidates must successfully pass a mandatory swim test at the Main Beach Lifeguard Tower. Testing is also available continuously throughout the year on an individual basis. Requests MUST be made at least 2 days in advance and a completed job application and physical testing waiver must be submitted prior to testing. Individual swim tests are available seven days a week between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. All requests for individual swim tests must be emailed to lifeguardswimtest@lagunabeachcity.net.
