Home MenuAnita Street Sewer Lift Station and Beach Access Stairs Reconstruction
Project Description
The existing sewer lift station and public beach access stairs at the west end of Anita Street are more than 70 years old and are in need of replacement. The lift station collects wastewater from residential and commercial areas between St. Ann’s Street and Calliope Street, extending up to Temple Terrace. It also receives additional flows during the summer months from five urban water diversion systems. This project will replace the aging and deteriorated sewer lift station and public beach access stairs. Additional improvements include asphalt restoration, new landscaping, and the installation of a permanent lifeguard tower.
Project Benefits
The project will help reduce the risk of sanitary sewer spills to the beach and ocean by replacing aging infrastructure and enhancing the City’s ability to access and maintain critical equipment. The public’s beach access experience will be improved at Anita Street Beach through features such as new viewing platforms and enhanced landscaping. In addition, the new sewer lift station will be thoughtfully integrated into the redesigned beach access to minimize visual impacts for nearby residents and beachgoers.
Project Location
Alternative access is available at Oak Street and Thalia Street.
