Laguna Beach residents are provided with three carts: A blue-lidded cart for recyclables, a green-lidded cart for green waste and organics, and a black-lidded cart for trash. CR&R has guidelines and examples for sorting waste.

Organics Waste Cart collects food scraps (meats, dairy, bakery, fruits and vegetables), yard debris (grass clippings, leaves, sawdust, small tree branches) and food-soiled paper. Do not place green waste or food waste in plastic bags. You can line the organics waste cart with newspaper, paper, or compostable bags. Ice plants and palm branches cannot be placed in the organics waste cart. Animal waste cannot be placed in the organics waste cart.

CR&R will collect textiles placed at the curb during two (2) specific weeks of the year. The textiles will be taken to local charities for repurposing. Additional information on textile recycling will be disclosed at a later date.

CR&R will collect all holiday greenery for a three-week period between December 26^th and January 16^th. Residents can place holiday greenery in or next to their organics cart for collection. Additional information pertaining to holiday greenery collection will be distributed closer to the month of December.

Residents are provided free bulky item collections four (4) times each calendar year.  Bulky items include large, hard-to-handle household items such as furniture, appliances and electronic waste.  Up to ten (10) items may be collected each time at no charge.  Residents may request additional collection for a charge.  Bulky item collection is a special service and is collected separately from the automated cart program.  Residents may call Laguna Beach’s dedicated CR&R Customer Service at (949)-662-3819 to schedule a bulky item collection/pick up.

 Valet Services

CR&R staff will retrieve your carts from your home and return them after service for $31.22 per month. For customers who require assistance due to a disability, this service is provided at no cost upon presentation of valid disability documentation.

Temporary Services

CR&R provides temporary services for construction and clean up projects. Bin sizes for temporary services range from 3-yard bins to 40-yard rolloff bins.

• Place all waste in the appropriate cart and close the lid.
• Store your carts properly by placing them in the garage, behind your house, or outdoor enclosed storage area after collection.
• No bin, cart, or other container shall be placed adjacent to or in a street or public right-of-way for collection service before seven p.m. the day prior to scheduled collection, and all containers so placed shall be removed from the street or right-of-way by six a.m. the day following collection.
• Outdoor storage areas may be screened using lattice, wood or other suitable fencing materials with approval from the City’s Zoning Division.
