The Engineering and Water Quality Divisions review private development projects for compliance with Water Quality Management Plan requirements, sewer connection standards, and backwater valve installation for hillside, oceanside, and multilevel properties. The divisions also coordinate closely with the Building Division on all remodels and home upgrades to ensure that each private sewer lateral is in serviceable condition and free of defects that could lead to sewer backups.
