The Water Quality Department is rehabilitating the Victoria 1 Sewer Lift Station. The construction will require a closure of the beach access stairs to Victoria Beach from Victoria Drive, alternate access will be available through Dumond Drive for the duration of the project. Construction is expected to last through May 2021.
The project scope includes a full rehabilitation of the wastewater lift station located beneath the Victoria Beach access stairs. The lift station is one of the City’s oldest, originally built in 1932. This will be the first complete overhaul of the lift station and will allow us to better serve the VictoriaBeach community. The rehabilitated station will help reduce the likelihood of an unexpected sewer spill onto the beach. In addition, the project also includes the installation of a new diversion system that will be used to divert dry weather urban runoff from the Victoria neighborhood back into the sewer system instead of releasing to the ocean.
